Transforming
Violence and Building Peace is designed to help individuals
and organisations to understand and address violence in
society and develop strategies to build peace. The course
will draw on the experience of the participants and tutors
in identifying key aspects of conflict and violence and
introduce frameworks for building peace at all levels and in
all sectors. Participants will develop strategies for their
own situations.
Course aims:
The aim of
this course is to provide participants with a clear and
comprehensive understanding of the causes of conflict and
its dynamics and will enable participants to develop skills
and strategies for change.
Courses objectives
Participants
will:

Deepen
their understanding of their own situation through
applying a range of tools of analysis

Explore
some of the key theories of the causes of conflict, and
change

Learn
from case studies of community-based conflict
transformation programmes

Identify
key organisational capacities for working in situations
of conflict and tension

Develop
strategies for addressing their own situations
Suitable for
The course is designed for people who work or live in a situation
of conflict; want the opportunity to develop their existing
skills and learn new methods and want to draw on the
experience of people working in similar situations.
Participants will be drawn from development and humanitarian
aid workers, human rights activists, local government
employees and people from community based groups and
non-governmental organizations.
