Coventry International Prize for Peace and Reconciliation Finalists Announced!
24 October 2011
Responding To Conflict has been announced as a finalist for the 2011 International Prize for Peace and Reconciliation, and is the only UK based organisation to have made it to the shortlist for 2011. The prize will be presented to the winner on November 12th at Coventry University, paying homage to the cities wartime past having been re-launched last year to commemorate Coventry's 70th Anniversary of the Blitz.
The award honours persons or organisations that have made a substantial contribution to the areas of peace and reconciliation, and past recipients include former UN humanitarian co-ordinator Hans von Sponeck, Humanitarian Dialogue Foundation founder Ayatollah Hussein Ismael Al-Sadr, and former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo.
The list of finalists has been reduced down to just two candidates, with the winner to be announced in early November 2011. Along with RTC on the list is the Poland based the Krzyżowa Foundation which aims to build bridges between the past and the present, between Western and Eastern Europe, and promotes dialogue between generations.
We are looking forward to the announcement of the winner in great anticipation and wish the Krzyzowa Foundation the best of luck.
