Consultancy Highlights

Anti Youth Violence / UK

RTC ran a session on conflict resolution for the Anti Youth Violence ‘Train The Trainer' event for people working on gang-related issues across the UK. During the session participants were taught to apply theories of conflict transformation to their work and develop skills in conflict analysis, which will allow them to work more effectively in their own situations in the future.

CARE South Sudan / Sudan

RTC provided training in conflict analysis and conflict sensitivity to staff and partners of CARE South Sudan. By learning to apply a range of conflict transformation tools to their own situation, CARE South Sudan staff were equipped with the skills needed to conduct their research on Underlying Causes of Poverty / Vulnerability (UCPV).

German Association for Development Cooperation (AGEH) / Germany

RTC provided training for development workers in preparation for their work in Israel. During the programme participants were taught conflict transformation theories and analytical tools, and developed the skills to enable them to apply these as interventions in the situations in which they will work, particularly with regard to individual and cultural identities and patterns of prejudice.

International Alert and Saferworld / UK

RTC provided support to International Alert and Saferworld in developing a new training programme for representatives from a number of UK government departments - including the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), Department for International Development (DFID), Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the Stabilisation Unit (SU). The training was designed to increase the skills and knowledge of conflict theory, concepts and responses across the different government departments.

Liberian National Red Cross Society / Liberia

RTC conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the Liberia National Red Cross Society's Child Advocacy and Rehabilitation (CAR) programme, which focuses on young people who were affected - directly or indirectly - by the Second Liberian Civil War. RTC assessed how effective the programme was at transferring useful skills to young people and achieving positive change in a way that is sustainable, as well as providing recommendations for future directions of the programme. We will also be working with the Sierra Leone Red Cross Society in the coming months.

School of Oriental and African Studies / UK

RTC provided a series of tutorials and lectures for students on the General Diplomatic Studies and Practice (GDSP) course in practical skills for mediation and conflict resolution.  During the programme students were able to link theories and perspectives to real life scenarios and to practice these using role plays and other tasks, covering diplomacy, negotiation and mediation skills.

United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) / Liberia

UNMIL asked RTC to provide training and support for civil society members to develop the confidence, skills, knowledge and the conceptual frameworks essential for proactive and effective work on reconciliation and coexistence. The training helped to ensure that when UNMIL withdraw from Liberia after the next election the proper structures are in place to guarantee lasting peace.
