Rev. Prof. Michael Taylor (Chair)
Michael Taylor was Director of Christian Aid between 1985 and 1997 and of World Faiths Development Dialogue from 2000 to 2003. He currently holds the position of Emeritus Professor of Social Theology in the University of Birmingham where he is engaged in research on Religion and Development. Michael is an ordained Free Church minister and prior to 1985 was Principal of a theological college in Manchester. He is a Patron of the Student Christian Movement and the Jubilee Debt Campaign.
Tim Moulds (Treasurer)
Since 2004 Tim has been working with prisoner support organisations to improve prison conditions and provide support to ex-offenders leaving the prison system. This has included the recruitment and training of volunteer mentors to work with people leaving prison, developing support projects for prisoners based on restorative justice principles and fundraising. Prior to this, Tim was Associate Director of Christian Aid and non-executive Director of Jubilee Debt Coalition, the Fair Trade Foundation, and Chair of the Debt Crisis Network. He has also had experience in the financial sector, as an investment banker with 3i (Investors in Industry) plc.
David Alexander
David has more than 20 years experience in the not-for-profit sector specialising in international aid and development and in healthcare management. David directed field programs for Save the Children in Morocco and Ethiopia before moving into hospital management. Between 1993 and 2005 he worked for the British Red Cross Society, initially as Head of International Aid and later as International Director. He has now set up his own consultancy business.
Art Lavelle
Art Lavelle's background is in mathematics, studying maths at University and then going on to teach maths at secondary school level. He became the Head of the School of Teacher Education at Newman College before taking early retirement in 2006. Art has been part of European TEMPUS bids and has acted as a consultant to the maths department in Kecskmet, Hungary, sponsored by the World Bank. Art has a passion for social justice and has been involved in a number of projects in this field, including helping secure funding for a 'refugees into teaching' project.
Peter Luff
Born in Brussels and educated in the UK, Peter took a degree in Politics and International Relations at the University College of Wales, Swansea. He travelled around the world in various roles before taking the post of Assistant Director of Amnesty International UK. Whilst at Amnesty he directed several country campaigns, organised the first UK Trades Union Human Rights conference and produced the Secret Policeman's Ball comedy series with the Monty Python team, Beyond the Fringe and Barry Humphries. Currently Peter is the Chairman of the European Movement and Director of Action for a Global Climate Community - a new political initiative that aims to unite a group of countries in a commitment to reduce their carbon emission further and faster than existing Kyoto obligations.
Alison Lyon
Alison Lyon has specialised for nearly 20 years in the communication of change (and of stability, for that matter) for internal audiences. Preferring the voluntary sector, she has worked most recently with Action for Children and Leonard Cheshire Disability. Alison serves on the Parochial Church Council of St Martin-in-the-Fields church, London.
Dr Alpaslan Özerdem
Dr Alpaslan Özerdem is a Lecturer at the Post-war Reconstruction and Development Unit (PRDU) at the Department of Politics, University of York. With field research experience in Afghanistan, Bosnia-Herzegovina, El Salvador, Kosovo, the Philippines, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka and Turkey, his research interests include post-conflict reconstruction, reintegration of former combatants and disaster management. He is co-author of Disaster Management and Civil Society: Earthquake Relief in Japan, Turkey and India (I.B. Tauris, 2006) and author of Post-war Recovery: Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration (I.B. Tauris, 2008).
Kate Phillips
Kate Phillips is the former Director of Marketing and Communication at Christian Aid and now works as an independent fundraising consultant.
Gay Pilgrim
Gay Pilgrim has a varied background in health, sociology, conflict resolution, research and management. She now works as a freelance consultant.
Anne Lloyd Williams
Anne gained extensive international experience working for Oxfam between 1979 and 1997. During this time she held various posts leading to becoming Regional Manager for Central Africa between 1991 and 1997. After leaving Oxfam Anne took on the role of International Grant Officer at the Diana Princess of Wales Memorial Fund, and initiated their Palliative Care programme. Anne is currently working part-time as the Development Officer for Windle Trust International.
